Drug Class is Back This Fall

SCN and Cooper Rock Pictures held an open house with students at LeBoldus High School to welcome Drug Class back for its second season, which begins airing on SCN September 24th at 9:00pm.

"Drug Class is a provocative series that shares information with parents and youth about the very real issues associated with drug and alcohol abuse," Minister Responsible for SCN Dustin Duncan said. "Not only will viewers be able to watch another exciting season of this award winning series, they will now be able to participate in an interactive, online web chat with the host of the show after the conclusion of every episode."

The series is produced by Regina-based Cooper Rock Pictures. "We are extremely pleased with the success of the show and believe the new online features this season will grow our audience even further," said President of Cooper Rock Pictures Lori Kuffner. "Of course, this show would not be possible without the support of our various partners, SCN, Shaw Rocket Fund, Saskatchewan Ministry of Health, SaskFilm, IChannel, SGI, Saskatchewan Film Employment Tax Credit and Canadian Film or Video Tax Credit."

Drug Class, a 13-part series, is a candid, often gritty, show that features teens learning to cope with drug problems. The dramatic stories of these teens are interwoven with scenes from student workshops led by Rand Teed, a Regina high school teacher who hosts the series. Teed's straight-forward, non-judgmental approach is based on harm reduction; a methodology which he uses to help teens understand the full impact of using drugs and alcohol on their lives.

Cooper Rock Pictures produces engaging and thought provoking programming for broadcasters worldwide. Along with Drug Class, Cooper Rock has produced Ted's Story: Honouring Melissa and Struggle and Emerge: The Pere Athol Murray Story.

SCN broadcasts high-quality, educational programs created by Saskatchewan producers that examine issues relevant to the people of our province. From documentaries that shed light on the world we live in, to children's shows that promote literacy, numeracy and skills development SCN offers TV that engages, informs and inspires the entire family.
