| Nick Kypreos uncovers first exclusive interview with Danton since his release from prison |

Former NHLer Mike Danton sets the record straight about the nature of his relationship with David Frost when he sits down with Hockeycentral analyst Nick Kypreos in an exclusive interview that will air on Wednesday, November 11th on Rogers Sportsnet's Mike Danton, "The Untold Story."
The one-hour Hockeycentral special will air Wednesday on Sportsnet East at 8 p.m. (ET), Sportsnet Ontario at 9 p.m. (ET), Sportsnet West at 8 p.m. (MT), Sportsnet Pacific at 9 p.m. (PT) and on all Sportsnet HD channels.
“Well its not sexual, I can tell you that,” said Danton. “The relationship with Dave, I think people need to really understand it wasn’t a player/agent relationship. I think that’s where a lot of the views were kind of distorted and the media kind of took off with how bizarre this is, an agent being able to have that type of control or influence on a young man. It wasn’t a player/agent relationship.”

After being arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the spring of 2004, he pled guilty on July 16, 2004 to attempting to hire a hitman. Danton was sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison and served 5 1/2 years.
In addition, Danton’s interview with Kypreos also talks about suicide while he was in prison.
“When I went to prison it was a bad time for me,” said Danton. “It was a down time and there were a couple occasions were I, and I've only talked about this a couple times, where I actually shredded the towels and made a little noose. It was in the same time zone as when the St. Louis season was ending that carried on into my incarceration. I just wasn't happy with myself. I wasn't happy with life in general. I was sick and tired of being alone.”

Danton began his NHL career after being chosen in the fifth-round by the New Jersey Devils in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He played only NHL 19 games before being dealt to the Blues in the 2003-2004 season where he collected 12 points and accumulated 141 penalty minutes in 68 games.
