Hip-hop. Breaking. Popping. Locking. Freestyling.

Ever watched the dance routines in music videos and thought: “Sweet! I want to be doing that”? Well, time to stop thinking about it and start doing it. Time to Get Up N Dance.

Hosted by award-winning dancer and choreographer Danny Davalos of Toronto’s O.I.P. Dance Centre, Get Up N Dance is a brand new television series that will let you in on the secrets of mastering the world’s most innovative street dance styles and techniques.

bpm:tv, Canada’s dance station, airs Get Up N Dance daily at 8 am and 1 pm ET, and on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays at 8 pm ET.

Each week, Davalos welcomes one of Canada’s top choreographers for an intensive dance tutorial. Every episode showcases a different style, from hip-hop to breakdance, and reveals the unique blend of artistry and athleticism that goes into creating the moves.

Under the guidance of professionals like Mariano, Mark Samuels, Jungle and So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s Tamina Pollack-Paris, you’ll get to see how an original routine comes together, and how a gifted choreographer seamlessly meshes the movement with the beat.

Get Up N Dance is an original bpm:tv production. Producer Declan O’Driscoll says: “There are lots of other dance shows on TV – but this is the only one that’s about breaking down the choreography and teaching you to do the routines yourself. It’s great for people who are into dance and want to learn and practice new moves, or who just want a great workout in the morning. We’re thrilled to have an artist of Danny Davalos’ caliber as our series host.”

About Danny Davalos
Trained in jazz, folklore, contemporary and hip-hop dance, Danny Davalos is one of Toronto’s most sought-after choreographers and dancers. His 12-plus years of dance experience also include the Hit & Run European Tour with Shawn Desman (2005/2006), the MuchMusic Video Awards (2005) and the motion picture Shall We Dance (2004). Davalos is currently owner of Toronto-based O.I.P. Dance Centre (home of Do Dat Entertainment), teaching hip-hop classes and workshops throughout North America, and artistic director and producer for O.I.P. Dance Company.
