Bell ExpressVu today introduced a major overhaul of its service to simplify the way customers navigate through its 400+ channel line-up, purchase programming packages and bundle its television service with other Bell product offerings. In addition, the company announced the imminent availability of two new digital receivers that deliver television programming to multiple TVs in a single household.
"As Bell ExpressVu has grown, we've listened to customers and drawn on their feedback to revamp our service from top to bottom to further simplify the viewing experience we offer," said Robert Odendaal, President of the Bell Video Group. "The changes we've announced today are all part of a 'new beginning' for Bell ExpressVu and a challenge to our competitors to catch up, once again. And there's more to come."
The enhancements to Bell ExpressVu's service, effective September 30th, offer customers an easier-to-navigate on-screen programming menu, increased flexibility and more personalized choice to make it even easier for consumers across Canada to experience the unmatched value of Bell ExpressVu's 100% digital TV service.
Some of the key changes to simplify and enhance Bell ExpressVu's service include:
- Starting at $25/month, the new Digital Standard package offers new customers more than 100 digital TV and audio channels, free Time Shifting on Canadian networks and no extra fees for service access or multiple receivers, as well as unique services on the Game Galaxy interactive TV portal.
- Starting October 1, Bell ExpressVu will offer the only standard definition dual-tuner Personal Video Recorder (PVR) in Canada with 'watch and record' capabilities, picture in picture viewing and 120 hours of storage capacity for any digitally recorded programming between two TVs. This two-room PVR receiver also offers unique features such as call display and iTV compatibilities.
- All themed channels on Bell ExpressVu's on-screen programming guide are now grouped according to 11 categories, in addition to several dedicated portals for interactive television (iTV) services. For example, sports programming can now be found in the 300s, movies in the 400s, High Definition in the 800s and all digital audio and radio channels in the 900s.
- Customers can further customize their TV viewing with 15 Theme Packs, each for $5/month, and individual Pick and Pay channels for $2.50/month, in addition to standardized discounts on Bell bundles with savings up to $15/month.
- On-screen Enhancements and Services. Includes a re-designed on- screen programming guide to make it easier for customers to find programming they want to watch and a 24/7 bilingual and commercial- free resource on Channel 198 with helpful tips and information to help customers better understand and use ExpressVu services and hardware.
"Seven years ago, Bell ExpressVu introduced consumer choice, pioneering the establishment of digital TV technologies in Canada. Today, we're taking our leadership to the next level to establish a new standard for digital television in Canada - all to the benefit our customers", added Mr. Odendaal.
Bell ExpressVu will also shortly introduce further enhancements, including new iTV services and more innovative hardware, as well as additional High Definition, Specialty and International channels.
