Shaw Media announces a partnership with Cineflix Studios and BBC America on Copper, a gripping new crime series, set to air on Showcase in Canada. Set in 1860s New York City, Copper centres around Kevin Corcoran, an intense, rugged Irish-immigrant cop working the city’s notorious Five Points neighbourhood. The one-hour, 10 episode series is set to premiere on Showcase in fall 2012.

Showcase, in association with Indian Grove Productions, announced today that Rossif Sutherland (ER, The Con Artist) has joined the second season of the hit series, King. Sutherland’s character will work alongside Lead Investigator Jessica King (Amy Price-Francis; The Cleaner, 24) and Detective Sergeant Derek Spears (Alan Van Sprang; The Tudors, Cra$h & Burn) on Toronto’s Major Crimes Task Force. King, a Showcase original series, returns to the schedule Winter 2012.

The robust list of upcoming projects includes the likes of Just for Laughs featured performers and Canadian comedy heavyweights Russell Peters, Jeremy Hotz and Tim Steeves. Featuring a slew of seasoned and up-and-coming writers and producers, these new projects are the latest examples of the channel’s ongoing commitment to original Canadian production and programming.

Toronto-based Proper Television announced today that production has begun on the new CBC Television series, REDEMPTION INC. Hosted by multimillionaire businessman and Dragons’ Den star Kevin O’Leary, the series will be filmed throughout the Greater Toronto Area until September 2011. REDEMPTION INC. (8 x 60’) is produced by Proper Television for CBC Television and will premiere in Winter 2012.
