Canwest announced today details of the 2010-2011 programming lineup across its Specialty channels. Joining an already robust selection of series, specials and blockbuster movies, the fall schedules include hit series AMERICAN PICKERS on History Television, action-packed spy series BURN NOTICE on Showcase and 16 brand new lifestyle programs featuring fan-favourite hosts. Looking ahead to 2011, viewers can expect Canadian adaptations of international smash hits, Top Chef and Wipeout, as well as the compelling co-production of THE KENNEDYS, chronicling the legendary family and featuring an all-star cast. Just one day before its Fall 2010 Upfront Presentation, Canwest recaps the 2009-2010 season with resounding success in all areas of its broadcast business.
“This season produced extraordinary results for Global and our outstanding portfolio of Specialty channels,” said Barbara Williams, Executive Vice-President, Content, Canwest Broadcasting. “From incredible growth in news and primetime on Global, to historic audiences across our Specialty channels, this was a season of unprecedented ratings growth for Canwest.”

Canwest Global Communications Corp. (“Canwest” or the “Company”) announced today that agreements have been reached between Shaw Communications Inc. (“Shaw”), certain of the senior subordinated noteholders of Canwest Media Inc. (“CMI”), and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners and certain of its affiliates (together, the “Goldman Sachs Entities”) that contemplate a purchase by Shaw of all of the shares of a restructured Canwest (“Restructured Canwest”) upon completion of the proposed recapitalization transaction and a purchase by Shaw of all of the Goldman Sachs Entities’ equity and voting interests in Canwest’s subsidiary, CW Investments Co. (the “CW Media Group”).

| Canwest Brings Original Series HAVEN Home |

Canwest Broadcasting announces the pick-up of Haven, E1 Entertainment’s much-anticipated drama series, co-commissioned with Syfy. Emily Rose (Jericho, Brothers and Sisters, ER), Lucas Bryant (Queer as Folk, Dollhouse), and Eric Balfour (24, Six Feet Under) have been cast in the series, based on the novella The Colorado Kid from legendary author Stephen King. The one hour, 13-episode series is set to premiere this summer on Showcase.

Canwest Global Communications Corp (“Canwest” or the “Company”) announced today that Mr Leonard Asper has tendered his resignation as President and Chief Executive Officer and all other director and officer positions with Canwest and its subsidiaries in order to pursue other business opportunities and to avoid any concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest. Mr. Asper will continue to provide the Company with advice through a consulting agreement until such time that Canwest emerges from CCAA protection.

| General News: Catalyst Capital Group And Partners Announce Proposal For Restructuring Canwest |

A group led by Catalyst Capital Group Inc. (the "Catalyst Group") that includes the Asper family and Canadian broadcasting industry executives, Rael P. Merson and John H. Tory, announced today that they have submitted to the Canwest Special Committee a restructuring proposal (the "Proposal") to facilitate the Company's emergence from the CCAA process. The Proposal requires no material amendments to the original Court filed plan and would maximize the value of the Canwest estate while expediting its exit from the CCAA process as a public company. The Catalyst Group is proposing to provide $120 million of value for an approximate 32% equity interest and voting control in a restructured Canwest.

Canwest Global Communications Corp (“Canwest” or the “Company”) announced that further to its news release issued earlier today, the Company, Canwest Media Inc, Canwest Television Limited Partnership (including Global Television, MovieTime, DejaView and Fox Sports World), The National Post Company and certain subsidiaries (the “CMI Entities”), have voluntarily entered into, and successfully obtained an Order from the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial Division) commencing proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (“CCAA”).
